Cindy Florkey
Hi, I’m Cindy! I’m a quiet gal that has lived in West Central Ohio most of her life. I love to visit new places, read books, make healthy meals, spend time outside, and learn new things, especially about health and wellness and teach it to others. I am married, have 3 grown children, and my best friend is my twin sister. I have worked as a radiation therapist for over 20 years. I have not only worked with cancer patients but I have had family members battle cancer, too. I have realized over the years that there is more to health than the standard of care. This, and my own health journey made me re-evaluate what health and wellness are and how to be proactive in preventative care. In 2008, my health declined to the point that I reacted to every food I ate. I not only felt terrible when I ate, but I also started losing weight at an unhealthy level. I had extreme fatigue where I could hardly get out of bed and take care of my children. I went to several doctors who told me I was just tired because I had kids. They told me there was no such thing as food sensitivities, but prescribed medication anyway. I felt like the doctors thought I was crazy. So, I started researching on my own and found a chiropractor who helped me understand what was going on in my body. I tried different healing diets, but they never worked for me because they didn’t consider what my body needed or reacted to (which is some of the “health” foods). This has been a crazy journey with lots of ups and downs. I wish I would have had someone to help me navigate those muddy waters and be an advocate with my health care providers. I long to assist others with their health journey. I want to help others feel their best so they can have a happy, healthy and vibrant life. Because of this passion and desire to help others, I got my certification from Functional Nutrition Alliance in Functional Nutrition Counseling and a Certification from the Academy on Culinary Nutrition as a Culinary Nutrition Expert and Certified Instructor. I want to support others as they navigate their health issues, meet them where they are, help with food choices, teach cooking, assist in menu planning, and empower them to make changes that will last a lifetime.
